After my first surgery (ouch, by the way), one of his creepy assistants (scary makeup, cigarette breath, thick German accent) told me I'd have the prettiest cheekbones! Joan Crawford is truly one of Hollywood's most complex legends. On the one hand, she was incredibly talented and dedicated to her craft, leaving behind iconic roles that still captivate audiences to this day. On the other hand, her reputation for being difficult on set, coupled with the infamous stories from Mommie Dearest, paints a very different picture. Whether those stories are entirely true or exaggerated, it's clear that she led a life that was both glamorous and controversial. The "Mommy Dearest" debacle has also been debunked countless times by dozens and dozens of people within, or close to, the family. She had a deep, loving relationship with her younger two daughters, who regularly recounted how she was the best mother anyone could wish to have. Countless other accounts. Christina Crawford was known to be a narcissist, m. ill, attention garden instrument, among many other unpleasant characteristics.
